Established in 1974, credit.org (formerly known as Springboard Nonprofit Consumer Credit Management, Inc.) is a nonprofit community service organization that works to strengthen communities and improve the lives of consumers by offering educational services that promote financial literacy, sustainable housing, homeownership, and a healthy economy. The agency’s mission is to provide individuals and families with access to quality financial education, counseling, assistance, and affordable housing.
Credit.org is approved by the Department of Housing and Urban Development and offers foreclosure prevention, rental counseling, reverse mortgage, and pre-purchase educational programs and confidential coaching. Credit.org is also a consumer credit counseling agency and helps consumers identify and resolve their financial concerns through budgeting, understanding credit, learning how to set financial goals, prioritizing debt repayments, and making effective financial decisions. In addition, credit.org is approved by the Executive Office for U.S. Trustees and the bankruptcy administrators for Alabama and North Carolina as a bankruptcy counseling and debtor education provider.
Credit.org is accredited by the Council on Accreditation, signifying the highest standards for agency governance, fiscal integrity, counselor certification and service delivery policies and offers counseling by telephone nationwide or in-person at office locations in California and Arizona.
